Washington Regional Transplant Community (WRTC) is an Organ ProcurementOrganization (OPO); one of 58 federally designated, non-profit agencies nationwide responsible for facilitating the organ, eye and tissue donation process of deceased individuals. OPOs like WRTC work collaboratively with their local hospital partners, medical professionals, donor families and community members to build the programs, systems and processes needed to make donation possible. As stewards of these life-saving gifts, OPOs bridge the gap between the generous donors and the 115,000 people on the national transplant waiting list.
